- Not yet being able to properly express your thoughts in English does not mean that your thoughts are not complex and interesting, so it is frustrating when learning material seems to imagine that you are much simpler than you are.
- These courses and the choice of current Berlin-based cultural material are designed considering the intelligent adults of all ages and cultural and professional backgrounds who visit these courses.
- I am using my experience studying art in Mexico, San Francisco, and finishing in the Rebecca Horn Class at the UdK, with a Master's degree, and nearly 27 years experience teaching English, and having been a local language learning immigrant myself 3 times throughout half of my life to the best of my ability to increase your confidence and skills to help you communicate your thoughts better. In live courses we will also be connecting to benefitting from city around us and what is currently on offer to be sure we will be inspired and intellectually stimulated in the process. Berlin Biennale this Summer! Hooray!
- All of my courses are inclusive safe spaces where everyone is welcome and all participants are expected to treat one another with respect. Diversity is really helpful in these courses.

- English course exploring the exhibitions of Berlin
- Developing skills at communicating without the cultural misunderstandings that divide us, is about more than simply learning a linguistic system and new words. What better learning environment is there than a city so rich in culture and diversity, like Berlin?
- In this course, we explore some of the many exhibitions in museums, galleries, and the streets of our city. Participants help choose from current viewing options, so every course is a new adventure.
- Language work, pronunciation and vocabulary building revolve around relevant exhibition texts, simultaneously broadening our knowledge of what we see. This is a valuable course for all who wish to develop communication skills and gain perspective, especially the curious and brave.

B2/C1 - intensive: Theatrics and the music of Englishcourse number: Pa4158F
one-week intensive from 30.6-4.7.2025 9:30 - 15:45 Get past that unnatural feeling and have fun while training in what is really an essential part of effective English communication, the music and percussion of it. Through analysing various great speakers and actors performances, you will learn to recognise how the speaker feels about what they are saying, about who they are speaking to, and how they want them to feel. For example, the upturns and chirps of friendly, the smooth roll down of comforting and reassuring, the flatness of certainty and firmness, and the rollercoaster of uncertainty. Learn to really notice which parts of sentences are emphasised and how much changing them changes the meaning and feeling. You will gain a more intuitive understanding while putting these techniques to use via dialogue from film scripts, plays, and our own writing. We will switch between the rolls of director, actor, writer working together to determine the characters feelings, intensions, and focus and other influencing factors in our practise. for more info and info on how to register using the course number Pa 4158F visit the KURS SUCHE PAGE www.vhsit.berlin.de |
B2/C1 - intensive: Expand cross-cultural understanding and communication skills with "Beyond Four Walls"course number Pa4156F
als Bildungszeitveranstaltung anerkannt - In this course, we explore some of the many exhibitions in museums, galleries, and the streets of our city. Participants help choose from current viewing options, so every course is a new adventure. Some favourite venues include The Berlinische Galerie, who generously offer us free entrance, and others which are always free of charge such as Palais Populaire and Urban Nations combined with viewing street art and art in public spaces. We are able to reflect on everything from the distant past to possible futures through all that is available in Berlin and the accompanying texts of the exhibitions and conversations inspired by what we experience bring up many current topics of discussion and issues that are also relevant to those whose lives have nothing to do with contemporary art. It's also a great option for those visiting friends and family in Berlin who work during the day.for more info and info on how to register using the course number Pa 4156F visit the KURS SUCHE PAGE www.vhsit.berlin.de |
